Meet Our Founder
Durga Prasad Pandey PhD (Cantab), D.Lit (Leiden)
(11 FEB 1910 – 26 SEP 1989)
Founder Director
Manava Bharati Society Dehradun
The late Dr. Durga Prasad Pandey established Anghaila campus in the year 1941 in the firm belief that its serene atmosphere would be conducive to healthy evolution of a child’s personality. He nurtured a grand vision of a learning community motivated by his association with other illustrious educators of his times, most notably Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya, Gurudev Rabindra Nath Tagore.
With the blessings of Mahatma Gandhi, the foundation stone was laid by Dr. Rajendra Prasad, and it received active support and co-operation of the our late President of India Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishan. Dr. D.P. Pandey’s close association with Gurudev inspired him to consecrate his life for the cause of child education and the service of divinity in man. He understood the need of an education system which will make the child grow with an uncluttered mind which will naturally lead to ultimate blossoming of the individual. Our organization today is a manifestation of this vision of our founder. Every aspect of our unique campus from its layout to execution was accomplished under his inspiring supervision. We are happy to say that this spirit has continued to guide us to serve the educational needs of the nation even up to the present day.
